ISSUE 664

Benchmark your benefits

In this issue, we conclude our review of benefits
and allowances, enabling you to compare your
organisation's offering with the benefits provided
by 222 other employers.

Our analysis of travel- and subsistence-related
benefits and allowances
establishes the going rate
for car allowances, mileage rates (including travel by bike for the first time) and the rates paid to employees for meals and accommodation when on work trips.

The final instalment of the survey provides information on staff discounts, long-service awards, childcare vouchers and salary-sacrifice arrangements. One surprise is that long-service awards are as popular as ever, with 64% of employers offering them to staff. Despite the advent of age discrimination legislation, the carriage clock lives on.

Our featured salary surveys cover pay for managers, HR staff and pensions professionals, while the latest pay reports and pay review update table provide details of the most recent pay awards to be added to the IRS pay databank. Updated earnings and inflation forecasts should be helpful for employers that have not yet settled their pay review this year.
