PUBLIC/PRIVATE SECTOR PAY RISE DIVIDE
Our latest pay coverage looks at the differing fortunes of employees in the public and private sectors. The monthly review of pay trends looks in detail at the pattern of pay awards in April 2011, revealing that, while private sector deals remain stable, freezes in the public sector have pulled the aggregate figures for the sector downwards. We also review the recommendations of the public sector pay review bodies. Employees covered by these are also subject to the Government's two-year pay freeze.
Elsewhere, we present findings from our 2011 company cars survey. Using data from 450 employers, we reveal that, while company cars and car allowances remain a popular benefit (offered in almost three-quarters of organisations), employers have concerns about the cost of running their fleet.
This is the last pay and benefits newsletter in which we will publish pay reports. These have been a key feature of our coverage over the years but their numbers have dwindled and we have introduced more comprehensive coverage of salaries through the acquisition of the salary surveys business.
If you are looking for salary levels by occupation or sector, the most comprehensive data is available from XpertHR Salary Surveys. Our salary surveys also contain detailed information on other terms and conditions, such as bonuses, pensions, holidays and benefits. We will continue to provide details of all the pay reviews we collect in our pay review update table, which is also available as a sector-by-sector archive.
