ANNUAL REVIEW OF PAY TRENDS
We kick off this issue with a look back at pay awards over the past year. This period marks some of the bleakest pay settlement data since we started collecting information on pay awards in the 1970s.

However, settlement levels have picked up over the last year, coupled with a drop in the number of pay freezes being made. Our review of pay awards in the three months to the end of August reveals that pay awards have now stabilised at the 2% mark. Employees whose annual pay award was based on a measure of performance are likely to have fared better, our analysis of merit awards reveals.

Our next newsletter will feature sector-by-sector analysis of pay awards over the last year.

Finally, our case study on strategic reward details how energy services company Senergy developed a disparate benefits offering into a strategic reward structure. As a global company, it includes useful advice on overcoming cultural differences among sites across the world.
