Our latest pay settlement data reveal that basic pay awards were worth a median 2.1% in the three months to the end of October 2010, having risen gradually from just 0.3% in the rolling quarter to January 2010. However, this latest figure is still less than half the cost of living increase as measured by retail prices index inflation for October, which was 4.5%. This means that employees continue to see their incomes squeezed as modest pay rises are failing to keep pace with the cost of living.

PAY AWARDS
Our latest pay settlement data reveal that basic pay awards were worth a median 2.1% in the three months to the end of October 2010, having risen gradually from just 0.3% in the rolling quarter to January 2010.
However, this latest figure is still less than half the cost-of-living increase as measured by retail prices index inflation for October, which was 4.5%. This means that employees continue to see their incomes squeezed as modest pay rises are failing to keep pace with the cost of living.

We also publish a range of other resources for pay and benefits specialists this week. Two surveys have been published by XpertHR Salary Surveys, covering job roles in HR/personnel and engineering.

New reports on pay deals and updated inflation and earnings forecasts can be found on the pay trends homepage.

Meanwhile, our graduate recruitment survey shows that the median starting salary for graduates in 2010/11 is lower in real terms than it was in 2009/10.
