Pensions provision
The 2011 XpertHR survey finds a diverse offering of pension arrangements among respondent organisations, with the dominant theme being the division between the pension types found in the private and public sectors.

Childcare, long-service awards, discounts and subsistence benefits
The final part of the XpertHR survey looks at a range of benefits including childcare vouchers, the most commonly offered benefit among respondents.

PUBLIC/PRIVATE SECTOR PENSIONS PROVISION
Our analysis of benefits and allowances continues with a detailed examination of pensions provision. The reform of public sector pensions has barely been out of the news in recent weeks and our look at current employer practice confirms the division between offerings in private and public sector organisations.

While virtually all public sector organisations among our respondents offer a final-salary pension scheme for at least some employees, this is the case for fewer than four organisations in 10 in both private sector services and manufacturing and production. Where organisations outside the public sector do operate a final-salary scheme, it is likely to be closed to new members. In contrast, just 12.5% of public sector organisations have closed their final-salary scheme to new starters.

The final benefits and allowances survey report looks at long-service awards, staff discounts, travel and subsistence benefits and childcare benefits, including childcare vouchers, which retain their place as the most commonly offered benefit.

We still want your input into our survey of individual performance-related pay schemes, which closes next week. Click here to complete it.
