BENEFITS SURVEY
In this issue we launch coverage of our annual major survey of benefits and allowances. Our research is based on 364 organisations and covers in excess of 25 different benefits and allowances.

The first article in the series looks at the overall pattern of benefits provision and finds that childcare vouchers remain the most popular benefit - tax-free benefits such as this are a popular option for the cost-conscious employer.

We also examine the use of flexible, voluntary and salary-sacrifice benefits. Flexible benefits are used by only around one organisation in 10, with a similar proportion considering their introduction.

The adult rate of the national minimum wage will increase by 2.5% from October this year. We look at the Low Pay Commission’s 12th report, which sets out the evidence it considered in setting its recommendations.
