CULTURAL CHANGE
Based on an interview with Ideal Standard, IRS looks at how in-house training can improve manager competence at minimal cost and help transform the culture of an organisation. The case study is a useful example for employers, who can often struggle to deliver effective line manager training, due to poor attendance or lack of engagement.

Ideal Standard's management development course, which is designed and delivered by the company's own staff, owes much of its success to the fact that it is "drip fed" to managers over a 12-month period, ensuring that they have time to engage with the content. Crucially, this also saves on time away from work.

A stress management training programme implemented by the Metropolitan Police Service has also worked on positive behavioural change. Its innovative content, based on real-life scenarios, has enabled police officers and their managers to address signs of stress in themselves and their colleagues.

Lastly, we have compiled a summary of pre-retirement training and support offered by a variety of named employers.
