Ensuring acceptable conduct at office parties and work-related events
This guide offers advice to employers on the need to be proactive in ensuring acceptable conduct among employees, as they could find themselves vicariously liable for the actions of their employees if those actions are deemed to have been committed "in the course of their employment", whether they were done with or without the employers' knowledge or approval.

EMPLOYERS' PLANS FOR CHRISTMAS 2012
Our annual research on Christmas working arrangements finds that almost one employer in five will be open or partially open on Christmas Day this year.

As expected, given the nature of the frontline services provided, a high proportion (18.8%) of public-sector organisations will remain open. However, this year, a high proportion (20.9%) of respondents in private-sector services will also operate on at least a limited basis.

Meanwhile, our analysis of pay awards in the private sector during the past year shows slow, steady growth, but they remain firmly below both inflation and pre-recession levels.
