Graduate recruitment survey 2012
Graduate starting salaries
Our 23rd annual XpertHR survey of starting salaries for graduates finds that they have been frozen for the fourth consecutive year. Our research also shows that starting salaries for the graduate class of 2012 will stand at a median of £23,500, with graduates taking up jobs in the legal profession once again enjoying the highest salaries.

Recruiting and selecting graduates
This annual XpertHR survey finds that graduate recruitment activity is picking up, with notifying vacancies to university careers services and using the employer's corporate website forming the two most popular candidate-attraction methods. Our results also indicate that more than one employer in three has encountered problems when recruiting graduates over the past two years.

GRADUATE RECRUITMENT
While our research into graduate recruitment found that employers are becoming more optimistic about the process, this is not yet translating into an upward shift in starting salaries.

Our 23rd annual XpertHR survey of graduate starting salaries finds that they have been frozen for the fourth consecutive year. Starting salaries for the graduate class of 2012 will stand at a median of £23,500, with graduates taking up jobs in the legal profession once again enjoying the highest salaries.

We have also added new PowerPoint presentations to accompany our line manager briefings on homeworking, managing job-sharers and managing part-time workers. Employers can use these interactive resources to train managers on dealing with issues relating to flexible-working patterns.

The XpertHR policies and documents section has been enhanced by new model forms to record the minutes of a grievance hearing and a grievance appeal hearing.

It's the time of year for Christmas parties - we report on two rulings involving the fair dismissal of two employees, one who punched a colleague after a Christmas party, and another for his involvement in a Christmas party "wrestling match".
